 About this Wonderful Lady!
Mini Bio: From the moment she first came before the WWE Universe, Natalya realized that competing in WWE was a gift, one she would utilize to its fullest extent. Of course, being trained in the legendary Hart Family Dungeon alongside a few famous family members didn't hurt either. Despite a profound desire to forge her own path, there's no denying that Natalya possesses the "hart" to reach new heights in the ring. Whether creating havoc as part of The Hart Dynasty, executing the family Sharpshooter or stepping out on her own to capture the Divas Championship, the fiery third-generation Diva has shown time-and-time again that the legendary Pink & Black legacy is safe in her hands. On my trip back to Calgary last week, I did something I hadn’t done in years: I went to the Hart House. I didn’t go inside as it’s not owned by our family any more, but I drove near it and was able to stand outside of the lawn and see the house as it stood so proud.  It was exactly how I remembered it.

I remember my cousins and I playing endlessly in the yard after our weekly Sunday dinners, staying up and having tea with my grandparents in their kitchen, and listening to my grandpa Stu tell incredible stories about his life growing up. There were tons of dogs and cats around the house, but the cats ran that house and everyone knew it. That’s where I got my love for cats at such a young age.

As soon as I pulled up to the house, a million memories came back to me.  The house was such an integral part of the Hart family because my grandfather Stu was the heartbeat inside of it. All of the love that came through that house started with my grandparents and it trickled down to their 12 children and radiated through every animal, guest or person who entered its doors. Somehow everyone was accepted in the confines of the Hart House.

The 5,600-square-foot brick house was built for businessman Edward Crandall in 1905. The Hart House is considered one of the oldest landmarks in Calgary and was once used as a military hospital for soldiers injured during the First World War and later served as Soldiers’ Children’s Home for Orphans in 1920. It was then sold to Judge Harry Patterson who would later sell the house to Stu Hart in 1951.

Natalya was in a backstage interview after a match between Lacey Evans vs Ember Moon on Raw Where Lacey used Natalya’s finisher the sharpshooter to win the match. Natalya wasn’t overly impressed with Lacey imitation of her maneuver but went on to say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and why Lacey wanted to take a page from her playbook, She also said if Lacey wants a rematch she better be ready to tap out.

As WWE heads back to Calgary this week for WWE Live at The Corral, there’s so much to reflect on for why wrestling is still so meaningful to Calgary.  So many of the greatest professional wrestlers in the world became WWE Superstars and were greatly influenced by the Calgary in-ring style. Trust me, there is a “Calgary style!” To celebrate WWE Live coming to The Corral this Friday, September 20, I asked some of Calgary’s very finest for a few words about what wrestling in Calgary means to them

TJ Wilson (aka Tyson Kidd) was born and raised in Calgary and had his first match in Calgary when he was only 15 years old. TJ would go on to have an awesome 20-year in-ring career, including becoming a two-time WWE Tag Team Champion as well as being a current television producer in WWE. TJ said, “I owe everything I have to my wrestling roots in Calgary. Calgary is extremely special to me. I watched so many great matches take place in Calgary as a kid. The Canadian Stampede sticks out as both the 10-man tag team match but also The Great Sasuke v.s. Taka Michinoku. Calgary has always had a rich history of Japanese wrestlers. The ‘Calgary Style’ is a true hybrid from some of the very best from the U.K./Japan and around Canada and the Calgary fans have seen the best of the best and have a real taste of what’s truly good. I’ve always felt if you can impress the fans in Calgary, you can be successful anywhere in the world. Calgary shaped me in and out of the ring and I’ll never forget it.”
