 About this Wonderful Lady!
Mini Bio: From the moment she first came before the WWE Universe, Natalya realized that competing in WWE was a gift, one she would utilize to its fullest extent. Of course, being trained in the legendary Hart Family Dungeon alongside a few famous family members didn't hurt either. Despite a profound desire to forge her own path, there's no denying that Natalya possesses the "hart" to reach new heights in the ring. Whether creating havoc as part of The Hart Dynasty, executing the family Sharpshooter or stepping out on her own to capture the Divas Championship, the fiery third-generation Diva has shown time-and-time again that the legendary Pink & Black legacy is safe in her hands. Natalya speaks to ESPN of her travel in Rwanda

Natalya

Natalya spoke to ESPN.go.com of her travel in Rwanda along with Alicia Fox three weeks ago in association with Nothing But Nets to help save refugees from malaria.

Greg Speros, ESPN.go.com:

WWE Diva Natalya admits she didn’t know much about the impact of malaria on refugees in Africa and elsewhere before she and fellow Diva Alicia Fox visited Rwanda.

Now she won’t stop talking about it.

“This is the first time WWE has done something like this. We’re able to use our platform for an important cause — to bring more awareness about malaria and save people’s lives,” Natalya (Natalie Neidhart) told Playbook this week. “We put a lot smiles on people’s faces.”

The late February trip was part of a joint venture between NothingButNets.net, the United Nations Foundation and WWE to raise awareness about the mosquito-borne disease and the simplest step that can be taken to prevent its spread, namely the use of netting to protect people while they sleep. “These nets are critical to saving people’s lives. Now, I want to do more,” she said.

The bed nets, which can be purchased through a $10 donation to Nothing But Nets, allow the people in the camps, mainly women and children, the chance to sleep without the fear of being bitten by a mosquito or any other flying insect. The mosquitoes die once they make contact with the nets, potentially saving more lives in the process.

Malaria isn’t a disease confined to the poorest of the poor in sub-Saharan Africa. LPGA golfer Natalie Gulbis had to withdraw from the LPGA Founders this week after being infected in Singapore two weeks ago.

The disease can be fatal, and Natalya said she took several doses of medicine after being bitten frequently during her trip. The most-recent estimates of the annual number of malaria deaths vary between 650,000 and 1.2 million worldwide, but researchers agree the overall number is declining thanks in part to the use of these insecticide-treated bed nets.

Natalya (@NatByNature) has more than 464,000 Twitter followers, 262,000 Facebook fans and is part of a pro wrestling dynasty — the Hart family — that goes back three generations.

“I have five or six football stadiums at my fingertips,” she said of her social media legions. “At any given second, I can push click and ask for help from my followers. The photos I sent back got a tremendous response.”

Social media was a factor in Nothing But Nets’ decision to associate itself through the UN Foundation with WWE. “Refugees already face unimaginable hardships,” Nothing But Nets director Chris Helfrich said in a statement. “With more than 140 million social media fans, WWE and its Divas have an incredible opportunity to spread the buzz about stopping malaria.”

Despite those social media numbers and multiple appearances on “Monday Night Raw” and other WWE programs, Natalya and Fox were strangers to the 30,000-plus refugee families they visited.

“People were trying to survive day to day. They’re lucky to have the basic necessities, never mind a TV or the Internet. I met many families that were six to seven on in a mattress,” she said. “The beauty of this trip was that the refuges didn’t have a clue who we were and we went in as normal people. They were just happy that someone cared about them and loved them.”

WWE’s goal is to provide and distribute 20,000 nets. Natalya doesn’t plan to stop this “life-changing” experience any time soon. Look for the “Nothing But Nets” cause to be showcased during WrestleMania 29 on April 7 at MetLife Stadium and for Natalya to continue this campaign whenever she can. “Am I going to fly to Africa and try to save all these people? Well, yes I am,” she said. “There are lots of ways [WWE] we can use our global juggernaut to reach people. The bed nets really helped kicked down the door. The possibilities are endless.”

WrestleMania Reading Challenge – Orlando, Florida

WWE PIC 14

Natalya along with Brodus Clay and Alicia Fox participated in today’s WrestleMania Reading Challenge in Weston Lake Elementary School at Orlando, Florida. Below is a transcript and a video from the coverage by Allison Walker of Central Florida News 13 who interviewed them on the event.

[pro-player width=’600′ type=’video’ image=’http://www.cfnews13.com/content/dam/news/images/2013/01/WWE%20BROTUS.png’]http://static.cfnews13.com/newsvideo/cfn/WWESUPERSTARSINTVWEB.flv[/pro-player]

Allison Walker, CF13News.com:

ORLANDO —

Kids at one Orange County elementary school got quite the treat Thursday morning. Some very special visitors showed up — to read aloud!

WWE Superstar Brodus Clay and WWE Divas Alicia Fox and Natalya dropped by Weston Lake Elementary in Orlando for the “We Give Books” program. They took turns reading “Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon.” And of course, they left a few books behind.

But before the trio made their grand entrance, we interviewed them, touching upon Wrestlemania, wardrobe selection, and even — mood swings.

ALLISON WALKER: Brodus, you are a 375-pound dancing machine. Let’s start this thing off right. Give me a little somethin’ to prove that you are a dancing fool.

BRODUS CLAY: Prove that I’m a dancing fool. I don’t have anything prepared, but if you need something … [must see video].

AW: When you made your WWE debut, you were kind of angry. Kind of scary. You’re fun and entertaining now. Are you expecting a mood swing to come along soon?

BC: No. No. Not as long as my mother continues to watch. Absolutely not. Mom, I’m good. I’m behaving.

AW: So Alicia Fox over here, do you thing she’d make a good Funkadactyl?

BC: You now what, she has her own persona.

ALICIA FOX: Be nice.

BC: I think they’d be more focused on her and her animal hats and stuff that she wears to the ring, and her flips and stuff that I’d just be in the corner just watching. So we’re just gonna keep it separate, if you know what I mean. Separate but equal.

AF: OK, OK.

NATALYA: But Brodus has been known to teach Natalya a few dance moves, so I’ve got the jazz hands from him.

AW: Alicia, you’ve come a long way since making your WWE debut as a wedding planner.

AF: Wedding planner, a dancer, Diva.

AW: So how has the women’s division evolved since you started?

AF: It’s grown really massively. But it’s really cool because we have a lot of great girls. We’re learning a lot of stuff about ourselves. [Natalya] and I have been road sisters for like 6-7 years now. So it’s been really great. A lot of strong sisterhoods.

NATALYA: And that’s one of the best parts about being a WWE Diva and Superstar is participating in things like what we’re doing today at Lake Weston Elementary. It’s like a sisterhood, and brotherhood — hey Brodus!

BC: Hi guys! Brodus Clay here just hanging out! [Laughing]

NATALYA: We’re doing this reading challenge and it’s so much fun because we’re using WWE on a global scale to reach out to these kids and to not only promote WrestleMania, but why it’s so important for these kids to read.

AW: Did you practice reading the book? Were there any hard words?

AF: Well, there were a few. We’re really trying to help Brodus through this book [Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon]!

BC: I have a hard time with the word “melon.” Molly Lou Melon. I just think of snacks and it’s difficult.

AW: Natalya, you’re a third generation wrestler. Did the family twist your arm since you were a little girl, or did you naturally make that decision?

NATALYA: Good question. You know, I’ve been a part of the WWE family since I was a little girl. My grandfather was recently indicted in to the Hall of Fame, and my uncles, my dad – WWE has always been a really big part of my life. Like Alicia is saying, the Divas and the women have evolved so much … all these amazing, strong and powered women. I feel so proud to be part of the Hart Family representing WWE and standing tall and really being a strong, powerful woman here. I never ever have my arm twisted. I do the arm twisting!

BC: Yea, I was about to jump in there. She did the arm twisting, those of us who’ve trained with her. She’s definitely the twister. She’s never the twistee.

AW: We’ve got WrestleMania coming up in Orlando, and of course Orlando and Tampa have huge fans. What is the one thing you are looking forward to the most during WrestleMania?

BC: Being in WrestleMania. Doing my thing. Maybe I bring Momma Clay and the Bridge Club back. Maybe me and my new partner will have our name by then. And hopefully we’ll be doing our thing in the ring so I’m just excited for what opens up for Brodus Clay.

AF: I’m looking forward to seeing what the Divas are going to be bringing out. I’m looking forward to seeing the outfits at Hall of Fame. That’s always my favorite. Natalya and I have already started shopping.

NATALYA: It’s getting dangerous.

AF: So I’m really looking forward to everything.

AW: Natalya, you’ll be sporting that pink and black?

NATALYA: Yea, I’ve gotta sport that pink and black. WrestleMania is such an exciting time of year. Right now, we are on the road to WrestleMania. It’s just coming up so fast! We do so many great events for WrestleMania and actually all throughout the year, especially right now… to give back.

Natalya comments on Trish Stratus’ Hall of Fame career

Published by:
  2013/01/31

With the announcement this past Monday of seven-time Women’s Champion Trish Stratus being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2013 on April 6th, several of today’s Divas have commented on the achievement and the celebration of her success. Here’s what Natalya had to say about her fellow Canadian and idol.

By Jake Grate, WWE.com:

“Trish was a pioneer for the Divas. There were women that came before, but she broke all the barriers and all the stereotypes. She had a work ethic like no other. She worked her tail off. She can do anything. Certainly, I’ve been extremely inspired by my family, but when I decided I wanted to be a lady wrestler, it wasn’t because of my family. It was because of Trish. … She is one of the reasons I’m doing what I’m doing today and I couldn’t be happier for her.”

Here is a video of Natalya along with Brodus Clay from the WrestleMania Reading Challenge in Houston, Texas on Monday afternoon courtesy of CW39 NewsFix on NewsFixNow.com.

NewsFixNow.com:

HOUSTON, TX – WWE stars Natalya Neidhart and Brodus Clay are in town for a RAW event Monday night. But instead of spending all their time wearing leotards in the ring, they decided to go back to school.

They spent Monday morning reading with kids at MacGregor Elementary School.

“We talked to them about reading, writing and treating others with respect, so we hit a lot of key notes,” said Neidhart.

The program was orchestrated by the WWE and We Give Books, an initiative created by the Penguin Group and the Pearson Foundation.
