 About this Wonderful Lady!
Mini Bio: From the moment she first came before the WWE Universe, Natalya realized that competing in WWE was a gift, one she would utilize to its fullest extent. Of course, being trained in the legendary Hart Family Dungeon alongside a few famous family members didn't hurt either. Despite a profound desire to forge her own path, there's no denying that Natalya possesses the "hart" to reach new heights in the ring. Whether creating havoc as part of The Hart Dynasty, executing the family Sharpshooter or stepping out on her own to capture the Divas Championship, the fiery third-generation Diva has shown time-and-time again that the legendary Pink & Black legacy is safe in her hands. The last few weeks have felt like a roller coaster ride of emotion for all of us. When I need to get grounded, I remind myself that we’re all in this together and focus on what’s truly important in my life: my family, friends and my pets. When I reflect on the most difficult times of my life, those challenging times always allowed me a glimpse into the “big picture.”

I’ve worked nearly 12 years for WWE and I’ve never really taken any time off except for when I broke my ankle in 2015. I took eight weeks off from the ring, but it wasn’t time off as I worked feverishly in the gym and in physical therapy to return from the injury. I knew I had to get back to living my dream, but perhaps in some ways I may have been selfish in thinking it was all about me and constantly trying to prove myself every week on TV. At the time, I was about to start a storyline with Sasha Banks, who was someone I’d never worked with on WWE television. I wanted to work with her so much and focused on doing everything I could to achieve that goal.

When my husband TJ was injured in 2015, I wanted to get back to work because I didn’t want to face how upset I was, and when my dad passed away in 2018, I didn’t want to take time off. I wanted to get right back in my routine and try to feel as normal as possible during a time that didn’t feel normal at all.

With the Road to WrestleMania almost upon us, one of my favourite events each year is the WWE Hall Of Fame Ceremony, which this year takes place the Thursday before WrestleMania. The 2020 Hall of Fame inductees are nothing short of spectacular, as already announced are the nWo, JBL and Batista.  In addition, I was ecstatic to see The Bella Twins, two of my closest friends, being honoured this year.

The Bella Twins shared a career that has broken barriers spanning over a decade in WWE, and their contributions far exceed what they’ve accomplished in the ring. Nikki Bella, the longest reigning Divas Champion, has inspired a generation of young girls to be “fearless.” Brie Bella, also a former Divas Champion, encouraged a generation of women to persevere and to never be afraid to be themselves. Some of the most favourite matches of my career in WWE were against Brie and Nikki, like my SummerSlam match in 2013 against Brie and the “Falls Count Anywhere” match on Smackdown against Nikki.

For the first time in 15 years, Monday night Raw returned to Winnipeg this past week. Even though I was born and raised in Calgary, I always feel right at home anywhere in Canada, as when you’re from the Hart family, we declare all of Canada “Hart Country!” The second I land anywhere here, I know there’s a Tim Hortons close by and I can find my tried and true ketchup chips wherever I go.

During Monday Night Raw, the six women who will be competing in the Elimination Chamber did a contract signing to make our match official. Of course, mayhem broke loose in the ring and Asuka learned the hard way not to shove me. Liv Morgan also dove on top of Ruby Riott like a flying squirrel and Becky Lynch came out and attacked Shayna Baszler. The signing was action-packed and it’s safe to say Winnipeg was excited to see their favourite WWE Superstars on the Road To WrestleMania.

My trip to Winnipeg also brought some other joyous moments for me.  Prior to showtime, I was requested by Make-A-Wish to meet a very special Winnipeg family, as Make-A-Wish grants life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses. This family said they not only followed my career but they also followed the career of my entire family. They even named two of their children after my uncles, Bret and Owen Hart. We had the chance to talk about their favourite Hart family matches and how much WWE means in bringing their family together. They understood that so much of the message we send in WWE is not only about telling stories but also making people who are watching have a sense of escape from their everyday lives. If we can put a smile on your face, our mission is accomplished.

This past Monday on Raw it was announced that myself and five other women will be competing inside the Elimination Chamber on Sunday, March 8.  With the road to WrestleMania in full swing, this will be my very first time competing in the Chamber.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Elimination Chamber, it is is an elimination based match held inside a massive enclosed steel structure that surrounds the entire ring. Two competitors will begin the match, with the remaining Superstars contained in each of the four “pods.” A new competitor is enters the match every five minutes, with the goal to eliminate each opponent by submission or pinfall. The winner of the match will receive an opportunity to face WWE Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 36 in Tampa, Fla., on Sunday, April 5.

In honour of Valentine’s Day, I wanted to dedicate this week’s column to my husband TJ.  It’s crazy to think we’ve been together for nearly two decades, but time has flown because we’ve had so much fun together. As I write this, it’s early morning and we are about to travel together to New York City. While we don’t love early mornings, it’s all worth it because we both get to live our dreams together and have done so for quite some time.

Through the years, WWE has had quite the way of playing Cupid, as it has formed couples like Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins, Edge and Beth Phoenix, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, Naomi and Jimmy Uso, The Miz and Maryse, Brie Bella and Daniel Bryan and many more.  I think that’s because when you share the same passion as the people you work with, sparks tend to fly.  For me personally, I’ve been lucky enough to have known TJ since I was 10 years old. He’s seen me at both my very best and my very worst and I have seen the same of him.  In my teens, we were good friends and when I started training to wrestle, I knew he was the one because he had my back like no other. I literally could practice any type of high flying wrestling maneuver with him and he would always catch me, never letting me fall.

I remember when I was first learning my craft in the famous Hart Family Dungeon and TJ wasn’t there one week. I had to wrestle with some other students in the school who were learning just like me. No one had the finesse that TJ had in the ring. He was like a magician in the way that he could make everything look so easy and flawless, despite it actually being very difficult.  Learning to wrestle with TJ was equivalent to driving a Ferrari and I quickly learned that he was the best. The days of driving broken down Cadillacs were behind me as TJ made learning the ropes incredibly fun.  In addition, the way he helped me in the ring really boosted my confidence, as I became a better person because of him. TJ undoubtedly helped me fall in love with wrestling, which in many ways made me really fall for him. No matter how hard things get, he always has a way of teaching me about patience, work ethic and perseverance. When everything is going great in my life, TJ reminds me to stop and appreciate every little thing.

The 2020 Royal Rumble has come and gone but the road to WrestleMania has just begun. No one stood out to me more this year at the Royal Rumble than the Rated R Superstar, Edge, who has returned to the ring after a nine-year hiatus.

Edge retired in 2011 after a career-ending injury at 37 years old. Edge is one of the most decorated WWE superstars of all time, having won 31 WWE championships in his WWE career. Edge, real name  Adam Copeland, is also one of the most famous Canadian Superstars of all time. After being retired from the ring for nearly a decade, Edge returned to action last week in the 2020 Royal Rumble as entrant No. 21. If you win the Royal Rumble, and beat 29 other WWE Superstars, this guarantees you an opportunity to fight for a WWE championship at WrestleMania.

Edge came very close to winning the match, but was eliminated by Roman Reigns. Regardless of Edge not winning the Royal Rumble, his return to the ring was met with cheers and excitement worldwide. Edge was told he would never compete again, and he defeated the odds.

When Edge’s music hit, all the talent backstage ran to a monitor or a place they could watch. Beth Phoenix, Adam’s wife, wanted to watch from the crowd.
