 About this Wonderful Lady!
Mini Bio: From the moment she first came before the WWE Universe, Natalya realized that competing in WWE was a gift, one she would utilize to its fullest extent. Of course, being trained in the legendary Hart Family Dungeon alongside a few famous family members didn't hurt either. Despite a profound desire to forge her own path, there's no denying that Natalya possesses the "hart" to reach new heights in the ring. Whether creating havoc as part of The Hart Dynasty, executing the family Sharpshooter or stepping out on her own to capture the Divas Championship, the fiery third-generation Diva has shown time-and-time again that the legendary Pink & Black legacy is safe in her hands. I have been receiving so many congratulatory tweets about my coming match at SummerSlam, I thought I would write about that this week. For those who don’t know, I am facing Smackdown Women’s Champion Naomi for the title in Brooklyn, one of the biggest World Wrestling Entertainment events of the year.

How am I feeling about having a match at SummerSlam?!

Well, it’s only the biggest event of the summer. No pressure! With less than four weeks to go, I am beyond excited. Over the moon, even. I am about to have one of the most special matches of my career at one of WWE’s signature events.

The inaugural SummerSlam took place at Madison Square Garden, a wrestling shrine, in 1988. In the 29 years since, it has delivered some of the greatest and most legendary moments in WWE history. And now we are headed back to New York City, the Barclays Center, to be specific.

In the words of The Rock, that’s “electrifying!” And in the words of my opponent Naomi … “it’s about to get LIT in here!”

This championship match against Naomi could be one of the biggest moments of my career, if I win.

The real question is why are we all so crazy about our pets?

Plain and simple … it’s because our pets are part of the family. Anyone who has a pet feels that special connection and bond. Animals have a way of moving into our hearts and making us better.

Let me start by saying that I love all animals.

Growing up, I had many dogs, including rottweilers, cocker spaniels and chihuahuas, and I became very attached to all of them.

But there’s just something special about cats. They’re so mysterious, beautiful and full of personality. I’ve loved cats since I was young, growing up around them.

I think it’s a Hart family thing. My grandfather, Stu Hart, was notorious for housing up to a dozen cats at a time at the Hart house. Stu had a cat named Sissy Snip, who lived to be 21 years old. She had my grandfather wrapped around her paws.

I have five cats, which I think qualifies me for cat lady status. Their names are Louis, Makaveli, Boo Bear, Charlotte and, of course, 2Pawz. Interestingly, WWE Superstar Brie Bella named 2Pawz after Tupac, which is very appropriate.

Of all my cats, 2Pawz has the wildest personality. He is the Shane McMahon of cats. I like to say that “Here Comes the Money” is his motto! He is a Persian cat with a pretty loyal fan base: 148,000 faithful followers on Instagram, to be exact.

My mom is the oldest of the Hart girls, daughter of Stu and Helen Hart. She is one of 12 siblings and a native Calgarian.

No matter what is going on in my life, she helps me keep it all together. As I kid, I don’t think I took my mom for granted, but now that I’m older and wiser I realize I couldn’t have made it to where I am today without her unconditional love and support. I realize now, more than ever, how much she has done for me. Everything she gave to me, I want to give to others. She taught me a lot about giving and that by doing so I will always get more back in return.

My mom’s not only there for me through thick and thin, but she’s also loyal like no other. She has taught me that loyalty is so important in any relationship and also in your career. When my mom is your friend, she is there for you until the end and always will have your back. She has made me realize that sometimes it is important to weather a storm and to see the best in people, even in the worst of times.

At times when my life has hit low points that I wasn’t sure I could recover from, there was my mom to pick me up and remind me that not only would I survive, but that I’d be stronger and better for it. That sage advice is the kind of stuff that forms the building blocks of life.

Last week, I had three days off, and I almost didn’t know what to do with myself. I said almost. It’s July, and I’m a Calgary girl, so I did what most people from Calgary do in July: Hello, Stampede Week!

Stampede Week is easily my favourite time of year in Calgary. There’s nothing like an Alberta summer, and there’s an unmistakable energy when the city comes together to celebrate the greatest outdoor show on Earth. In the words of The Rock, “It’s electrifying!”

I have so many amazing childhood memories from the Calgary Stampede. I loved devouring the Tom Thumb mini donuts, cruising the rides, enjoying all of the beautiful animals — from the bulls to the billy goats — and staying up until midnight to watch the fireworks. And I had the best seat in the house at the Hart House when it came to watching the Calgary skyline light up with that glorious pyro. Life is but a dream.

The second I landed in Calgary, I was excited. Just walking out of the airport, you feel the rush and energy of the people of Calgary getting ready to show the city off to visitors arriving from all over the world to enjoy the Stampede. Everyone was sporting their cowboy boots and hats … and suddenly I felt super out of place in my Chanel shades and WWE New Day shirt with Big E as a unicorn on it.

With Canada having just marked its sesquicentennial — and celebrated the 60th birthday of Canadian icon (and my uncle) Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart — it’s a fitting excuse for me to brag about my heritage!

Why not?

O Canada.

Being a Canadian in WWE is a huge honour.

I not only get to represent my family, but I am also proud to represent an entire country.

Being a Hart from Canada, my hometown isn’t just Calgary but the entire country. The Hart family is synonymous with wrestling in Canada, and it doesn’t matter whether I’m a hero or a villain, Canada has my back.

WWE superstar Dolph Ziggler once joked with me, saying, “Nattie, you’re from Calgary, not Toronto. I’m from Cleveland, and when I perform in Philly I don’t declare

all of the USA as my turf!” I told Ziggler that when you’re a Hart, all of Canada is considered your hometown.

That’s just how the Hart family rolls in Canada.

And that will never change.

As I grow older, I feel wiser, which is something I can only attribute to experience. I recently competed in the inaugural women¹s WWE Money in the Bank ladder match, not once, but twice. When I first heard that I was going to be in the match, I was shocked that we were getting this amazing opportunity that the women in WWE have been dreaming about for years. But at the same time, I was secretly scared of both falling and failing.

I knew all eyes would be on the five of us competing in the match: me, Tamina, Becky Lynch, Carmella and Charlotte Flair. The world would be watching our every move. Trust me, simply picking up a ladder is no easy feat. In fact, I spent an entire day practising moving a 12-foot ladder around and standing it up. I was frustrated, exhausted and out of breath.

I felt sore the next day in a way that I never have, not even from the powerlifting workouts that I do. But it was all worth it when the bellrang and the match was under way.

Conquering fear isn’t easy for anyone, whether it’s getting back into the dating scene, walking down the aisle to get married, becoming a parent, having to give a speech to a large group of people, making amends with an enemy, holding a tarantula, facing a fear of heights, or simply being afraid to fail at life. I would argue the last one is the biggest and most important fear we all face.
