 About this Wonderful Lady!
Mini Bio: From the moment she first came before the WWE Universe, Natalya realized that competing in WWE was a gift, one she would utilize to its fullest extent. Of course, being trained in the legendary Hart Family Dungeon alongside a few famous family members didn't hurt either. Despite a profound desire to forge her own path, there's no denying that Natalya possesses the "hart" to reach new heights in the ring. Whether creating havoc as part of The Hart Dynasty, executing the family Sharpshooter or stepping out on her own to capture the Divas Championship, the fiery third-generation Diva has shown time-and-time again that the legendary Pink & Black legacy is safe in her hands. With Canada having just marked its sesquicentennial — and celebrated the 60th birthday of Canadian icon (and my uncle) Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart — it’s a fitting excuse for me to brag about my heritage!

Why not?

O Canada.

Being a Canadian in WWE is a huge honour.

I not only get to represent my family, but I am also proud to represent an entire country.

Being a Hart from Canada, my hometown isn’t just Calgary but the entire country. The Hart family is synonymous with wrestling in Canada, and it doesn’t matter whether I’m a hero or a villain, Canada has my back.

WWE superstar Dolph Ziggler once joked with me, saying, “Nattie, you’re from Calgary, not Toronto. I’m from Cleveland, and when I perform in Philly I don’t declare

all of the USA as my turf!” I told Ziggler that when you’re a Hart, all of Canada is considered your hometown.

That’s just how the Hart family rolls in Canada.

And that will never change.

As I grow older, I feel wiser, which is something I can only attribute to experience. I recently competed in the inaugural women¹s WWE Money in the Bank ladder match, not once, but twice. When I first heard that I was going to be in the match, I was shocked that we were getting this amazing opportunity that the women in WWE have been dreaming about for years. But at the same time, I was secretly scared of both falling and failing.

I knew all eyes would be on the five of us competing in the match: me, Tamina, Becky Lynch, Carmella and Charlotte Flair. The world would be watching our every move. Trust me, simply picking up a ladder is no easy feat. In fact, I spent an entire day practising moving a 12-foot ladder around and standing it up. I was frustrated, exhausted and out of breath.

I felt sore the next day in a way that I never have, not even from the powerlifting workouts that I do. But it was all worth it when the bellrang and the match was under way.

Conquering fear isn’t easy for anyone, whether it’s getting back into the dating scene, walking down the aisle to get married, becoming a parent, having to give a speech to a large group of people, making amends with an enemy, holding a tarantula, facing a fear of heights, or simply being afraid to fail at life. I would argue the last one is the biggest and most important fear we all face.

The truth is… it’s hard! It’s a lot of work and sacrifice — from both of us — but it’s worth it.

I have been with TJ, a.k.a. Tyson Kidd, for more than 15 years. Even I have trouble believing that sometimes. But that’s a testament to our love and commitment and our ability to work around challenges.

Certainly being a globetrotting WWE Superstar comes with its own unique relationship challenges, but honestly, as long as we’ve been together, I’ve always been working. Before WWE, it was full-time at a restaurant in Calgary, while wrestling independently.

Admittedly, it’s helped that TJ shares my pro wrestling passion. He’s unselfishly supported me as I chase my dreams. He’s been my sounding board, tag-team partner (figuratively and literally) and my No. 1 fan, sometimes when I most needed one. And I like to think I’ve been the same to him.

The fact that my dad and I share the same career choice, WWE Superstar, and that we have both made names for ourselves wearing pink and black spandex speaks volumes! On a side note, if you ask my dad, he will say he’s never retired from the ring. He says this every time we watch his old matches on WWE Network. He will still power-slam any opponent, any time, any place.

Growing up, I always thought my dad was the coolest father in the world. His moniker in WWE was Jim (The Anvil) Neidhart and he was on television each week. All the kids at my school knew who he was, and they would always ask me questions about him. They wanted to know about his opponents, if I knew the Ultimate Warrior and if Papa Shango’s green slime was real. Oh, boy!

When my dad won the WWE Tag Team Championship with my uncle Bret (The Hitman) Hart, I remember running around the house with his shiny new title belt. My sisters and I stole it out of my dad’s bag so we could play with it, causing him to almost leave for the road shows without it. How would he explain that to his partner, The Hitman, later that evening before a show at Madison Square Garden? Luckily, my mom saved the day and my dad didn’t take off from the airport without his WWE Tag Team Championship.

Honestly, I don’t have the words to describe it.

Surreal, for one. You have to remember, I grew up idolizing this once male-dominated industry. Beating the odds and becoming a WWE Superstar was one thing. Being part of a women’s revolution with WWE is something I could only dream of a child. But this. To be part of a first, with a company steeped in tradition like WWE, is beyond special.

At the exact moment Shane McMahon announced there will be a Money In The Bank women’s ladder match for the Money in the Bank contract – and with it a shot at the women’s title anywhere, any time  –  I had just been thrown through the WWE announcer’s table on Smackdown Live by Charlotte Flair!

Even in my dazed state, my inner fan girl was fist pumping in my head and singing out loud “I’m gonna be in a ladder match!”

This weeks Calgary Sun Column is very spacial to me personally Because this is a question that i ask Nattie my self and it meant a lot to me for her to answer it in her very own Column.  Thank you Nattie you are truly the best. Frankie D

@fadhitman asked me “What it is like being a middle child?” The question instantly prompted me to write a column about my sisters.

Let me tell you a little bit about my sisters. Jenni is one year older than I am and Muffy is one year younger. We are all so close that I can honestly say I’ve never felt lonely and I have always had two people who unconditionally support me, which is priceless.

I’ve always felt extremely lucky to have two of the best sisters I could ask for. But being a middle child did have its pros and cons. I found that I was always the peacemaker of the group. But don’t get me wrong, I got into my fair share of mischief. When I was five, Muffy and I decided it would be a good idea to write all over the neighbour’s driveway with my mother’s lipstick because we didn’t have sidewalk chalk. Big mistake. The neighbor didn’t want to talk to us after that!
