 About this Wonderful Lady!
Mini Bio: From the moment she first came before the WWE Universe, Natalya realized that competing in WWE was a gift, one she would utilize to its fullest extent. Of course, being trained in the legendary Hart Family Dungeon alongside a few famous family members didn't hurt either. Despite a profound desire to forge her own path, there's no denying that Natalya possesses the "hart" to reach new heights in the ring. Whether creating havoc as part of The Hart Dynasty, executing the family Sharpshooter or stepping out on her own to capture the Divas Championship, the fiery third-generation Diva has shown time-and-time again that the legendary Pink & Black legacy is safe in her hands. With WrestleMania taking place over the course of two nights this Saturday and Sunday,  I wanted to get some insight on “favourite WrestleMania matches” from some WrestleMania experts. These “experts” just so happen to be some of the greatest WWE Superstars of all time.

I asked former Women’s Champion and WWE Hall of Famer, Beth Phoenix, what her favourite WrestleMania match was. Beth answered fast and said: “For me, WrestleMania X, the opening match of Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart. It was the ‘light switch moment’ when I realized I was to do more than just spectate, as I wanted to do what they were doing. Every bit of that match made me believe. And Owen pinning Bret opened my eyes to how on any given night, a star can be born with artists that understand how to craft that story.”

I agree with Beth, Owen Hart vs. Bret Hart from WrestleMania X at Madison Square Garden is the match that makes me think of WrestleMania. The story is simple. It’s brother versus brother, each competitor trying to outdo each other. I love how technical the match is, and for me watching it, it also touches me on an emotional level. Owen played the “bad guy” to perfection in the match, but he was also so lovable at the same time.

I asked my husband, current WWE producer, 20 year in-ring veteran and life-long WWE fan TJ Wilson what his favorite WrestleMania match is. “For sure it’s Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin from WrestleMania 13. However, a year earlier at WrestleMania XII, I was in attendance for the Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels 60-minute Iron Man Match.  I was just 15 years old and saw Shawn Michaels in the hotel the morning of the event and he indicated that he was nervous.  It blew me away to hear someone of his magnitude say that he also gets nervous before his matches. Due to that conversation earlier in the day, I almost tricked myself into thinking this match would be a letdown. It turned out I couldn’t have been more wrong and I loved every minute of this match being there live and not knowing who would win.”

Our road to WrestleMania is different this year but as I look back on some of my favourite memories from past events, I realize that many were actually made outside of the ring.

This year marks my 12th WrestleMania, more than any of female Superstar in WWE, and I’ve been incredibly proud to be a part of every single one of them. While each year has WrestleMania moments that are etched in my memory forever, there is one moment outside the ring from a past WrestleMania that really sticks with me to this day.

In 2014, prior to WrestleMania 30 in New Orleans, I had the honour to help build a playground for underprivileged children. The playground was huge, so I knew that this was going to be a big undertaking for all of us involved.

That day started out beautiful, as the sun was bright and the sky was clear. We started putting everything together piece by piece and there were a lot of heavy parts, but thank goodness I enjoy powerlifting.

WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio joined myself and Stephanie McMahon in putting up different sections of the playground, such as swings and slides, as well as hauling various supplies.

The last few weeks have felt like a roller coaster ride of emotion for all of us. When I need to get grounded, I remind myself that we’re all in this together and focus on what’s truly important in my life: my family, friends and my pets. When I reflect on the most difficult times of my life, those challenging times always allowed me a glimpse into the “big picture.”

I’ve worked nearly 12 years for WWE and I’ve never really taken any time off except for when I broke my ankle in 2015. I took eight weeks off from the ring, but it wasn’t time off as I worked feverishly in the gym and in physical therapy to return from the injury. I knew I had to get back to living my dream, but perhaps in some ways I may have been selfish in thinking it was all about me and constantly trying to prove myself every week on TV. At the time, I was about to start a storyline with Sasha Banks, who was someone I’d never worked with on WWE television. I wanted to work with her so much and focused on doing everything I could to achieve that goal.

When my husband TJ was injured in 2015, I wanted to get back to work because I didn’t want to face how upset I was, and when my dad passed away in 2018, I didn’t want to take time off. I wanted to get right back in my routine and try to feel as normal as possible during a time that didn’t feel normal at all.
