Calgary Sun Article/Interview with Natalya – 1/25/2019

We’ve seen the changes in the last few years. Everything from getting the first-ever women’s Hell in a Cell match, Money in the Bank Ladder Match, women’s Royal Rumble and TLC matches, to being regularly featured in the main event of Raw and SmackDown Live on a weekly basis. Soon we will run out of “firsts.” What makes it even more special has been the reaction of the fans, as they have played an integral part in getting the women of WWE this far!
When WWE announced that the women’s division will be getting Tag Team Championships, I don’t think there was a girl in the locker room who wasn’t totally pumped. If we didn’t have a tag team partner, our heads were swiveling in that locker room looking to make a friend. You have the potential tag teams of Peyton Royce and Billie Kay, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville, Sasha Banks and Bayley, Nia Jax and Tamina Snuka, The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan), Mickie James and Alicia Fox, and the list goes on. Just because Ronda Rousey holds the Raw Women’s Championship doesn’t mean she can’t be my tag team partner and we can’t go for the tag titles together. Hey Ronda! I think we make a pretty fierce team!
If I could bring back a woman from the past, I’d ask Beth Phoenix in a heartbeat to be my tag team partner, as there is no woman who knows her stuff in the ring better than the Glamazon. After all, she is a WWE Hall Of Famer!
I’d like to also add that tag teams are in my blood! After all, my dad Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart was part of one of the greatest tag teams in WWE history – The Hart Foundation. My uncle Davey Boy Smith and The Dynamite Kid were also arguably one of the best teams ever, and in my opinion future Hall of Famers for sure. If you were to watch any of the British Bulldogs’ matches against the Hart Foundation, it was lightning in a bottle, with incredible tag team competition that was ahead of its time. Bret Hart said that he loved the dynamic with my dad who was the “tank” while the Hitman was the “Porsche.” My dad has said his favorite tag teams to compete against in his prime were The British Bulldogs, Demolition and The Rockers.

WWE Raw Results – 1/21/2019
|

Ronda Rousey and Natalya went up against Sasha Banks and Bayley in the main event on Raw.
Sasha Banks capitalized on Ronda’s relative inexperience and overt aggression to trap her in the Bank Statement, which Natalya quickly broke up. Ronda eventually replied by catching Sasha in the Armbar, though Sasha narrowly escaped the hold by rolling to the ropes. Natalya tagged in and administered the Sharpshooter on a depleted Sasha Banks, only for Bayley to break the hold and knock Ronda off the apron, teeing up Sasha to trap Natalya in the Bank Statement, earning a win over Natalya and Ronda Rousey.
Lest anyone think tempers would cool after the match ended, rest assured, they did not. Sasha Banks held on to the Statement a beat too long for Ronda’s liking, and champion and challenger went nose-to-nose as Raw went off the air, as Bayley, Natalya and the official struggled to keep them apart.
